All who take the sword will perish by the sword

In the wake of several mass shootings in the US...

It was very sad and shocking to read about a local Protestant boy planning a terrorist attack against 2 mosques after watching murderers attack other mosques overseas.

Thank God the police stopped this planned terrorist attack and protected Muslims from any physical harm. Thank you police for your hard work in keeping all of us in this country as safe as possible. This boy has been deceived and corrupted by murderers. Hopefully the rehabilitation process will help him understand Jesus’ teaching on the use of the sword.

God forbids his Christian disciples from using physical violence against anyone. Not even to protect our Lord Jesus. Jesus clearly said so, recorded in verse 52.

Matthew 26 verse 47-56:

47 While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man; seize him.” 49 And he came up to Jesus at once and said, “Greetings, Teacher!” And he kissed him. 50 Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you came to do.” Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him. 51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword. 53 Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?” 55 At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Day after day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. 56 But all this has taken place that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.

Jesus set the example and taught his Christian disciples never to retaliate when under violent attack. Obviously, he forbids Christian disciples from murder.

Matthew 5 verse 38-39:

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Furthermore, murder is punished in the lake of fire. No excuse by simply claiming to be Christian.

God said in Revelation 21 verse 8:

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.
